Twin Oaks Golf Club has been a staple in the Statesville/Iredell County area since 1961. From its beginnings as a nine-hole course and driving range to an 18 course
Its popularity has never wavered amongst the many amateur golfers in the area. Through it many owners, and PGA pros. It has quite a history. Herm Worsham took over in 1980 as the club pro and manager.
Being from Pennsylvania and the Pittsburgh golfing area, Herm and his brothers grew up with Arnold Palmer. Herm was an outstanding amateur golfer and won many tournaments. One of his older brothers Lew won the first televised, U.S. Open beating Sam Snead in an 18-hole playoff. His younger brother Buddy was Arnold Palmer’s best friend and was the reason he went to Wake Forest. Many famous golfers have played Twin Oaks in the past including Leon Crump, probably the most famous hustler and gambler of his time. All in all, it’s a fun old-school public course that brings lots of memories and future impasse. We hope you will join us for your next round of golf.
